Viewers disappointed, befuddled or downright miffed by the Season 4 ending of TV Land’s “Younger” on Wednesday night are in surprisingly good company.
“When I read the finale, I was like, ‘This can’t be it!’” said Sutton Foster, who stars as Liza Miller, a divorced 40-something mother navigating an ageist publishing world by posing as if she’s in her 20s. “I was very invested and very emphatic about it. I cornered one of our writers in a bathroom and was like, ‘You can’t end it this way! How could you do this!’”

With two Tonys under her belt for leading roles with heavy dancing (see: an eight-minute tap dance break as Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes and the tour-de-tap of Thoroughly Modern Millie), those “other people” certainly have cause. “[It’s] because dance is the thing that is the hardest for me to do,” she explains. “Singing or acting or telling a story comes a lot more naturally.”

TV Land’s Younger is many things: a sharp parody about the world of book publishing, a romantic comedy, and a testament to how far parents will go for their children. But at its heart, Younger is about the power of female friendships.
With that in mind, the sitcom’s season 3 finale was its biggest cliffhanger yet. Liza (Sutton Foster) finally came clean to Kelsey (Hilary Duff) about her true age.
